We are proud to have a strong workforce who are well trained, able to adapt and knowledgeable in their job. All employees hold their HS1 qualification run by Scottish bakers and are all trained Baristas by Cafe Consulate.
We recently put an employee through a Modern Apprenticeship and gained a SVQ Level 7 in Hospitality Leadership & Supervision. Our events coordinator is PVG registered through Disclosure Scotland to allow her to provide Party's with children and adults of all ages.
And most importantly, our staff are qualified Chocolatiers with recognition from international Pastry and Chocolatier consultant, Martin Chiffers. After a three day intensive course under the supervision and training of Mr Chiffers in October 2019 our staff gained chocolatier recognition and learned skills from one of the most highly skilled in the UK.
Martin is one of the most respected British pastry chefs in his county. He coaches many competitors in major competitions including Ruth Hinks who is a World Chocolate Master and trained Shetland Fudge Manager Nicola in 2014 and again in 2016. Martin has over 30 years experience working in some of the most famous venues, including Harrods, Raffles Hotel in Singapore and the Savoy Hotel in London.
Martin is the only pastry chef IN THE WORLD to have won the European Pastry Cup Coup du Monde de la Patisserie TWICE, with best sugar and chocolate piece. He also trained Nicola in 2017 at Cocoa Black in Peebles to do her first chocolate showpiece.
To add to his fame, he recently acted as an expert consultant to BBC Bake Off, Creme de la Creme and Co-authored the book accompanying the series.
Now that is some workforce!!!!
We are constantly continuing our learning journeys and currently have three members of staff completing their British Sign Language Level 1 and 2 course which has been given CPD and IAO accreditation to make sure that we can cater for all throughout all levels of the business. Our main barista, events coordinator and manager are all taking part to ensure BSL is available all the time.
