Cancellation Policy

In the unfortunate event that you have to cancel or reschedule a class, amendments to bookings can be made up to 14 days before the class.

Should you wish to cancel or move a class from 14 days up to 28 days before the class date, the fee of £10 per person will apply.

Should you wish to move a class out with 28 days, no fee will be charged to do so.

Should you wish to cancel or move a class within 14 days, no refunds will be given. You are welcome to send a replacement and can call us on 01595694324 to change the reservation name.

If you do not turn up for your class, no refund will be given and full payment would be required on rebooking.

Allergens Policy

We endeavour to accommodate dietary requirements including allergies and intolerances; however we would appreciate it if you could notify us in advance so that we can amend menus to suit or can offer you an alternative dish.

While we do our best to reduce the risk of cross-contamination in The Cook School, we have a legal responsibility to inform you that all 14 major allergens are handled on site so we CANNOT guarantee that any of our dishes are ‘free from’ allergens and therefore cannot accept liability in this respect.

Guests with severe allergies are advised to asses their own level of risk and consume dishes at their own risk.

Terms and Conditions of Payments

Payment needs to be made in full on booking of class.

For group bookings/private classes we will take a 50% payment on booking and we need full payment within 72 hours. Any cancellations of group booking need to be made 28 days before and the deposit will not be refunded.

This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.

Situated on Commercial street in Lerwick. We provide cookery experiences where you will learn to develop your palate and discover what you love to cook and eat. The Cook School is based on the top floor of our building with no access from Lifts, there are a number of stairs required to get to the cookery kitchen. We offer a vast rage of classes with many different themes from Childrens chocolate parties to Bannok making classes. If you prefer hands on cookery then we have a range of day classes for you, these last approximately 5 hours.

Car Parking and Arrival

Parking is available on the Peir (there is a charge per hour) or there is free parking at the ‘Old swimming Pool Car Park’, to see a map, please click here.

Main Entrance and Reception

The main entrance is situated on the ground floor with step free, level access.

The floor surface is lino. The area is evenly and well lit with overhead lighting.

Wheelchair access is not available beyond the first floor, if you need assistance a member of events staff will be informed and we will assist you.

Attraction

On our ground level we have street-food which includes Shetland Ice Cream made on site, coffee and a mix of savoury and sweet take away items. This level is wheelchair accessible.

On the second and third level we have a Larder Shop which includes a large refill area with over 170 items plastic free, COOK kitchen frozen ready meals and all larder essentials from Shetland and across Scotland.

On our 4th level we have our Cook School where our classes take place. We have a large modern state of the art kitchen with a group work station all equipped with top of the range appliances.

We have a dining room situated just off of the kitchen where we can accommodate up to 20 people.

The kitchen floor is commercial grade Laminate flooring.

The events kitchen is bright and evenly lit by spotlights on the ceiling.

Public Toilets

On the fourth floor, there is steps to our toilets. We have three sets of toilets located on the landing. One toilet has a baby change unit and a sanitary bin. All toilets are well lit. All toilets have modern handryers.

Catering

We provide food services. This is a mixture of pre-made and made to order food. Baby changing facilities that are available in one of the toilets on another level. We also provide high chairs. Crokery is provided for sit in customers, and plastic cutlery for takeaway customers.

Shop

Our shop is located on the ground floor of the building and can be accesed from the main entrance. We provide a wide variety of gifts from food items to giftware. Commercial grade vinyl floor. Spot lights to provide even lighting across the shop. We have several fridges that stock a variety of fresh products and frozen. The shop is on two floors. Staff can offer assistance if required.

Additional Information

All our staff have regular training that includes disability awareness. We have a set of evacuation procedures-should you require it someone will assist you with evacuation out of the building. All our information brochures are available on paper. Clear signage is used throughout. We can offer details of any transport or accomodation near by.
