Not sure if my teeth can take it

I was bought this as a Christmas present but was very disappointed. The tablet was brick hard (in date). I am not sure if there was a problem with the packaging but everything seemed to be sealed.

My mother makes tablet and it is soft, dark and delicious. I felt this tablet was very hard and was frankly worried I was going to chip a tooth
